Lawmakers shouldn’t be lawbreakers. Help the Seneca Nation fight for justice.

For more than 200 years, the state of New York has tried to steal our property, assert jurisdiction over our remaining lands and impose its taxes on the Nation’s sovereign business activities. Now Albany is trying to use our future – and yours – as a quick fix for its budgetary problems.

The United States signed treaties with the Seneca Nation promising to protect the Senecas from any efforts by the state to impose its taxes in our sovereign territories. Now their promise – and your law – is being broken. A mandated retail tax on the Nation’s products will compromise the continued prosperity of an entire culture, as well as violate the very laws by which the state is governed.

You can help overturn the state’s decision. Voice your concerns to New York state lawmakers. Remind them to uphold the promises made many years ago.

It is simple. Send an email to state lawmakers and let them know that the Seneca Nation is not a welfare office for politicians. It is a strong, sovereign nation that must be respected as such.
