“Warriors” have been defined as a protector of their people. From the Civil War to World War II and from Vietnam to Afghanistan, Native Americans have proudly fought and died for this land. Per capita, more Native Americans have served in the armed forces of the United States than any other people.
The men and women of the Seneca Nation have been honored to protect our home. And like so many others, many Seneca have made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our shared ideals – your way of life as well as our own.
We have fought and died for the sovereignty of the United States. Today, New York wants to abrogate our sovereignty. It is an insult, not only to us, but to all the great and honorable people who live in New York.
Even as you read this, members of the Seneca Nation are proudly fighting and dying in the hills of Afghanistan. We stand with you. Will you stand with us?
